Richmond Beach Saltwater Park

Summer feels like it has finally arrived in Seattle, so we decided to hit up a nearby beach for some fun in the sun. Magnus enjoyed riding in the backpack along the coast, crawling in the sand, trying to eat driftwood, and picnicking with mom and dad.

Peek-a-boo!

Magnus LOVES to play peek-a-boo behind corners and spy on mom or dad in another room. Never gets old...

First night sans Magnus

This weekend, Dee and I spent our first night away from Magnus...ever. Ami took care of Magnus while we were at a friend's wedding in Eastern Washington. The wedding was a blast, but the highlight of the weekend for me was the opportunity to sleep in--in fact, I had been looking forward to it for weeks!! Magnus enjoyed his 24 hours with grandma so much that apparently he talked off and on all night, and couldn't wait to get up at 5:15 a.m. and play some more! Ami was a good sport about her early mornign wake up call, and soaked up this added time with her grandson who reminded her so much of Dee when he was little.

Magnus and Ami giggling about the fudge bars they planned to share while we were away...

Eleven Months!

May 19th marked Magnus' eleven month "birthday" and the last time his age will only be noted in months--(unless I become one of those parents who reports that their child is 15 months old, or 22 months old, etc. which has always seemed a little strange to me as I do the math to determine what that "means" in years, but who knows, I've already been known to do things as a parent I never thought I would and I'm sure it is only the beginning.) It is bizarre to think that our little man is nearly a year! Magnus has many new favorites; hiding from mom under the covers in her room (his giggle always gives away his location as he is giddy with anticipation of being discovered,) taking baths and splashing about the tub, pointing where he wants to go, cruising around furniture, jumping up and down on his mattress in the corner of his crib, drinking water out of Talking Rain bottles, and crawling up and over Sherman. He is obsessed with the laundry room (partly because the door is always closed since he heads straight to Sherman's water bowl and plays in it) and he has overcome his initial fears of grass, much to Dee's and my delight (imagine two outdoor fanatics having a son scared of the grass!) He LOVES eating string cheese, eggs (at least the yolks for now,) and ravioli while looking out the window in the dining room. Dee and I are pretty convinced that his first word is 'dog' since he still calls the walls, remote, books, toys, etc. "momma" and "dadda" but he consistently says, "dah" whenever he sees Sherman.

Mother's Day

The Hauge house was abuzz with moms throughout Mother's Day. For starters, we hosted a Mother's Day brunch with Sue, Ray, Grandma Lillian, and Cal. Dee did all the cooking as we enjoyed ourselves on the deck. Following Magnus's afternoon nap, we entered round two, where we hosted a Mother's Day BBQ with some friends who, like myself, are new to this mom thing. Between the Wietholters and their twin girls, the Pavlovich's and their daughter, and the Lockett's two boys, there were babies abound! Once again, Dee took the lead in the kitchen, as the moms chatted away, laughed and shared stories of motherhood. Thanks Papa for a fun filled and yummy day!
