Dee and I have learned that there is quite a market for infant haircuts in the Seattle area. Personally, it seems absurd to pay $25 to have a child's hair trimmed if not completely silly knowing Magnus barely has a full head of hair and it'd probably last a month before he'd need another trim. Knowing all of this, we were quite excited to hear that there was a salon up north that charged $1 for each year of your child's age, and gave infant haircuts to babies as young as 4 months! We made an appointment, grabbed an arsenol of toys to distract Magnus during his cut, and headed north. Little did Dee and I know that Magnus' first haircut would go down in the "history books" as one of those moments that you laugh til it hurts when it was all said and done. Fayes Shear Delight appeared as though it hadn't had a good scrub down since the 80's, or since the last time Faye, Magnus' stylist had cut her permed rattail. Our appointment began with over the top mom, me, showing Faye several styles that I liked out of a baby magazine that I had brought along. Faye

kindly interrrupted me to explain that he wasn't quite ready for a "style" and she was going to basically "clean him up" in 15 minutes flat. Magnus sat on my lap while Faye "worked her magic" with some clippers since she couldn't use her shears because her arm was in a soft cast from a recent surgery (yes, that's correct, a hairstylist who couldn't use shears.) Magnus entertained himself knawing on a toy that we had thankfully brought (after Dee grabbed one of Fayes toys for kids, took one look at it, and quietly put it back in it's sestpool of germs box.) I wasn't quite sure what Magnus' hair would look like when his 15 minutes had passed, but it did dawn on me more than once as I watched Faye arbitrarily grab hair and shave it off, that I could easily have done this myself at home--and I wouldn't have missed the long strand that remained on the bangs and required some snipping back at home. Nevertheless, our little boy is quite handsome and somehow looks older with his new do.
